Laena Myers’ Spring '24 release, LUV (Songs of Yesterday) showcases a multi-faceted artist and approach to music; an experimental punk background of guitar-based songwriting merging with deep violinist roots as well as a life-long love for singing ballads, leading to a depth of emotion that cuts to the heart of even the most hardened. The 11-track collection is the first to feature the genre-spanning composer, session violinist/singer and former chronic band member putting her own name to her recordings. LUV was well-received, with critical acclaim from print publications such as Mojo Magazine ("Myers' solo debut feels full to the brim, with experience, ideas and detached cool") as well as UNCUT (“The title track is a dreamy, instrumental swirl. Look hard at the bruised introversion and melodies bleed through.. while the gorgeous 'Give Em Hell' has power, resilience and a country song's attitude to starting over.")
Laena performs live with varying accompaniment but often as a 2-piece, having just completed a month-long Spring EU/UK tour as a duo feat. guitarist Cole Berliner, performing songs new and old interspersed with improvised violin, guitar loops and spoken word.
